Xenoblade Chronicles Useful Tools

Useful Tools

Xenoblade Chronicles contains many features to make traversing such a huge area as effortless as possible.
These features include: A map that lets you skip to locations you've visited before ('Landmarks') simply by selecting them; an arrow that indicates the direction of your next destination; and a clock that lets you change the in-game time. These features all help make your playing experience more enjoyable.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D World

A World Constructed in 3D

The game world of Xenoblade Chronicles not only spreads far and wide, there are also times when you'll need to look above and below you.
Through the eyes of your character, you will need to pay attention to areas of different height as you run and jump around the game world. Sometimes these undulations can be used to your advantage, but falling from high places can also inflict damage on your character.

Xenoblade Chronicles Vast Environments

Vast Environments

Your adventure takes place atop the corpses of two enormous titans.
Pick a point far in the distance and you'll be able to travel there seamlessly.* There's plenty to discover in locations other than your main destinations, so enjoy exploring every nook and cranny of the game world.
* Travelling from the shin area to the knee area requires some loading time.

Xenoblade Chronicles Heart-to-Hearts

Heart-to-Hearts

Once certain conditions are met - your affinity towards a character reaches a certain level, for example - you will be able to go to a special location for a conversation with other characters.
This gives you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the characters' relationships.

Xenoblade Chronicles Quests

 Quests

As you journey through the game world, you may receive Quests from the people you encounter.
By completing these Quests and solving people's problems, you can receive rewards and deepen your affinity with those people. Talking to people and taking on their Quests will reveal the relationships between them in all their complexity. There are also some subplots of the story than can only be seen by taking on Quests.
You can proceed through the main story without having to clear Quests, however.

About Affinity

Unique Features

Characters and Weapons

Each character can equip different types of weapons. Some excel at close combat whereas others specialize in long-range attacks. You will need different battle tactics for each character depending on their equipment and personality. The player can change which character they control at any time using the menu. (The player-controlled character cannot be changed during battles.)

The Monado's Powers

The Monado is a weapon imbued with special powers that set it apart from other weapons in the game. As Shulk gradually becomes aware of its power, powerful moves with special effects, known as Monado Arts, become available for you to use.

Battling Mechon

Mechon's tough armor means they are impervious to damage unless a special attack that harnesses the Monado's power is used. The character who wields the Monado releases its power, sharing it with members of the party. This enables all party members' attacks to cause damage to Mechon.

Battling Unique Monsters

Some of the monsters you'll encounter while travelling around the game world are unique monsters with individual names. Unique monsters drop items that are more valuable than those dropped by ordinary monsters when defeated. You'll encounter powerful unique monsters right from the beginning of the story. Don't take them on until you are ready. Bide your time and build up your powers before challenging them.
